Identity Design and Packaging

Spanish graphic designer and art director Oriol Gil created the brand and package design for Cornelia and Co, a restaurant, bakery, winery, and coffe shop located in Barcelona. The simple black and white identity is inspired by the graphic design of central Europe between the 30s and 40s.

The client knows best

hi every one, i know it has been a while since i last blogged or shared any of my works. I’ve been going through a developmental phase and basically been asking my self the question what do I want to do with my life and is this what I really want to do, there I say I haven’t gotten the answer…any ways let’s get back to the real purpose for today’s post. Today I am going to be highlighting the some tips i think most newbies or designers take for granted especially when working with customers you are used to or have been friends with for a while.

1.) A clear design brief

please people what ever you do try to get a clear design brief, this project was hampered by a very unclear design brief. designing a flyer in landscape mode and getting applauded for the design only for it to be changed 3 days later and with that came a whole new design concept.

2.) A chain of command

Having a clear chain of command and knowing who to call to ask the important questions is important. In the case of this project I was in contact with my friend instead of the promoter this caused additional problems and counter commands tthat just made it a little bit more stressful.

3.) The Customer is always right

The saying the customer is always right has been around for sometime learning to deal with that in itself takes I believe years of practise as an unhappy customer is a customer that won’t be back which at the end of the day affects your bottom line so always endeavour to keep your customer happy while also trying to lay in one or two professional advice.

4.) Tidy up before you travel

My elder sister recently got married and I tried my possible best to close this project before I travelled for the wedding. Needless to say that didn’t happen and i found my self up at odd hours trying to get a good internet connection and working on a project that should have been completed before I left and what led to this i hear you ask ”An unclear design brief”

5.) Draw the Line

This has to do with your artistic integrity and knowing what’s best for the client sometimes what is best for your clients isn’t what your client wants. your ability to manage this and get your client to see things your way or come to a compromise does at the end of the day saves face and saves your client from unnecessary issues down the line. Then you don’t get the “you should have told me” line.

“The New DIPP!” Lagos Club Tour a.k.a. The “OWAMBE” Tour kicked off to a successful start on Friday, 27th July, 2012 at the tour’s first stop, LA MANGO Lounge, GRA, Ikeja.

Performing his hit singles including the latest one, “OWAMBE”, which has received a lot of positive reviews, DIPP’s (Half-Man, Half-Amazing) amazing performance of his songs gave a whole new definition to a ‘club night’ coupled with the performances from El, YQ, Beazy and Capital F.E.M.I. it was a night to remember.

The tour, which is going to last till 29^th of September 2012 continues this weekend, Friday, 3rd August, 2012. The next stop? DEUCES LOUNGE, this time Dipp will be tearing the club up with guest performers: Modenine, Shank and Morell. Other acts would be there to grace the event..

the smile shot (love the smile shot): my personal favourite, it should be called the killer smile shot! lol

first of all you’ve got to know it’s a work of art and not a real robot, but even at that it is still pretty impressive and a very expensive work of art.

What’s even more interesting is that you can order online for just $1.6million you get a full spec robot , surely there won’t be to many of this roaming around the streets anytime soon but i love the idea and really wish it was real but like the webpage says “buy DREAM now!” and I did buy one or i think I did … still waiting
